What is a Master Plant Dieta ?
A Master Plant dieta is an ancient Indigenous Shipibo practice where a participant (dietero) enters into a dieta with a master plant to create a sacred bond or relationship with the plant consciousness. This practice is done to receive the teachings, healings, and guidance of the master plants, which are also seen as teacher plants and can offer profound healing and wisdom to the dietero.
Your diet and energy of what you consume before and after is of the utmost importance. You will be maintaining a diet of restricted foods before and after your dieta of no: red meat, pork, salt, oils, processed foods including canned foods, sugar, spicy foods, dairy, pharmaceutical drugs & antibiotics, alcohol, animal fats like lard and butter. It is also important to be mindful of what you consume in the form of media, no pornography, no sex or masterbation, horror films, its best to stay off of media as much as you can and be in a meditative contemplative state, journaling, being in nature as this is your energy and your commitment to the plants and your process and will make a very big difference in your dieta pre, during and post.
A dieta must always be done under the guidance and care of a Maestro or Maestra, the dietero will consume the plant in the form of a tea, allowing the dietero to become a vessel for the plant's consciousness in order to establish this sacred bond. Some centers will let you choose the plant that is calling you to diet, and other Ayahuasca centers you will have a consultation with the Maestro and they will choose for you based on their expertise and what they can see is happening in your energetic field and physical body.
During the dieta you will sit in Ayahuasca ceremonies guided by the Maestro, usually every other day in order to understand how this Master Plant is working with your consciousness. Finally, at the end of your dieta, there is always a closing ceremony that is called an Arkana where the Maestro works to seal and close your diet allowing you to fully merge with your Master Plant, to be protected, and to be prepared to go back out into your normal life.
The Master Plant Dieta we offer, the Maestros will let you choose your own Master Plant or you can have them recommend to you what they feel you would benefit most from based on their many years of experience.

1. Prepares the Body
- Tinctures offer a gentle introduction to the plant’s energy, allowing your body to adjust before going into the dieta.
- They help clear toxins and begin the purifying process, making the dieta experience smoother.
2. Aligns the Mind & Spirit
- Microdosing a tincture beforehand can build a connection with the spirit of the plant, creating an easier transition into dieta.
- Helps calm the mind, making it easier to surrender to the dieta’s teachings.
- Supports dreamwork and intuitive downloads, as many master plants begin working in subtle ways even before the dieta starts.
3. Strengthens Energetic Sensitivity
- Many master plants open specific energetic channels—taking a tincture beforehand can help tune your frequency to the plant’s wisdom.
- A tincture can gradually clear blockages, allowing for deeper healing once the dieta begins.
4. Reduces the Intensity of the Initial Phase
- Some people experience strong detox reactions when starting a dieta. Using a tincture beforehand can make the process gentler by slowly introducing the plant’s energy rather than diving in all at once.
5. Sets Intentions & Builds Relationship with the Plant
- Drinking a tincture with prayer and intention strengthens your connection and respect for the plant’s spirit.
- This pre-dieta time is a chance to receive guidance, dreams, or insights that prepare you for the deeper journey ahead.
Best Practices for Using a Master Plant Tincture Pre-Dieta
- Take a few drops daily for 1-4 weeks before the dieta (depending on the plant and your sensitivity).
- Approach it with intention, prayer, or meditation to deepen your connection.
- Follow any dietary restrictions associated with the plant to begin clearing and cleansing your system.

Master Plants Available for Dieta
The following is a list of Master Plants that are available to diet at the Ayahuasca center we hold dieta's at.
The Shipibo believe the plants are sentient beings, each having their own spirit that can communicate with us. Each plant spirit carries different wisdom and teachings and has different healing capabilities.
Noya Rao
Noya Rao is a mythical tree known as the Tree of Light or The Flying Tree. The legend of Noya Rao says the chief of a village discovered Noya Rao on the bank of the Ucayali River when he saw fish eating the tree’s bark, then transforming into birds and flying away. This is where Noya Rao gets the name, The Flying Tree. Medicine made from the bark of Noya Rao is believed to hold the key to the world of beings of pure light. The leaves of Noya Rao are luminescent and when they fall to the ground can be seen glowing in the dark, and so Noya Rao is also known as the Tree of Light. These magical leaves are believed to activate intuition and promote mental clarity. The Shipibo consider Noya Rao to be a master plant whose plant spirit is very much respected and seen as second only to God. The plant spirit of Noya Rao embodies love and light, and teaches the dietero self-love, compassion, and peace, often showing the dietero their own light. She is a fierce guardian as she is a tree and dieting trees is a powerful call. Noya Rao is also known as the tree of transformation, and has the ability to heal deep unresolved trauma that could be blocking your pathway of evolution. As well as helps to open up and clear your pathway to your highest calling and purpose. Noya Rao is also on the land at the healing center and we take a night walk to visit her so you can bask in her shimmering light and see her leaves glow in the dark!

Marusa
The Marosa plant is a green leafy shrub with thin blade-like leaves and tiny white flowers so small you can almost miss them. An unassuming plant spirit, the energy of Marosa is very subtle and also very powerful. Known to the Shipibo tribe as Onanyati Rao, or lovingly they call it Mamasita.
Marosa is excellent at healing long standing conditions of the female reproductive system, balancing masculine and feminine energies and restoring the nervous system to a star of rest. Helps to connect you to your own feelings and emotions and to open the heart. Marosa is great for increasing self confidence and self love. This plant carries a strong feminine energy, helping those who look for light and love, and a reconnection to the energy of the universe. Always growing close to the river, it carries a strong energy of water, and shares a special connection to the serpents of the rivers. The mother of this great teacher plant is the anaconda snake. It’s commonly reported to have visions of giant anaconda’s and experience her serpentine like presence during ayahuasca ceremonies while on a dieta.
Those who have suffered experiences of abuse, abandonment or other trauma, particularly in childhood, often develop low self-esteem and associated unhealthy patterns in adulthood around seeking love and a sense of belonging in the world. Unfulfilling habits like looking for love in the wrong places, giving too much (or too little) in relationships, or allowing disrespectful or dishonorable treatment from others, and many other ways that can lead a person to feel less worthy of love, more uncertain of self, and ultimately even more starved of a sense of belonging in the world.
It is clear that for many people today there exists an intense desire to feel loved and wanted, to feel a full-bodied certainty of value in the world, and to be available to experience and share love in healthy ways. Marosa helps to heal these feelings of loss, heartbreak, abandonment, rejection, not belonging, self-love, and self-worth brining in a child-like sense of love, admiration, and joy for the human experience of life.
